Tyred Eyes release new single Estuary
Late 2018, Swedish five piece indie rock outfit Tyred Eyes released the single Friday, a first sign of life since the ambitious short film project ARMS in 2015.
Now they are back with the new single Estuary, taken from the album Destroy Everything You. Estuary continues where Friday left off, but adventures even further from the sound we usually hear from Tyred Eyes. The song starts with a melodic bass line that is the backbone throughout the entire song. Layers of synthesizers, guitars and effects are added as the song crescendos in a cacophonic sonic landscape. Johanna Hellqvist’s vocals are graceful and elegant as she tells a personal and emotive story of a lost friend.
The evocative video for Estuary was made by Martin Forslund who previously has created videos for Pink Milk and live visuals for Teddybears.
Reaching for a new sound and a development in musical style has been a constant signum for Tyred Eyes. Started as a garage punk trio by brothers Martin T Sahlin (guitar and vocals) and Erik Toresson Hellqvist (bass) in Gothenburg in 2009, the band has gone through various transitions. Drummer Joel Bjurbo has been a reliable backbone to the band since 2012, and with the inclusion of third guitarist, vocalist and nowadays principal songwriter Oscar Brask in 2014, the musical spectrum of the resurfaced Tyred Eyes has widened once again.
The new album Destroy Everything You was recorded in Welfare Sounds Studios in Gothenburg. Longtime collaborators Olle Björk and Per Stålberg have produced the new material working closely with the band during multiple sessions spanning back to 2016. The long time span since the first sessions, along with a determined songwriting process has resulted in an album that leaves nothing to chance.
The album Destroy Everything You is released April 5 via Welfare Sounds & Records.
